Finding THINGS out?
Why do we need to find things out?
Science is the expression of the certainty of nature, but doubt & uncertainty is the foundation of the scientist, while it seems that in general science is considered absolute & with no uncertainty.
Could this paradoxical untruth of what we perceive science to be, be the sublime motivation that we know it is not true and so we need to search more and more?
- It seems science (the body of knowledge of things found out) is about:-
- finding things out,
- the new thing that can be done with what is found,
- the doing of new things found out (technology).
The consequence of science is the
* application or the power to do things (refers to the thing [1]
not to use of the thing [2].
* FLASHPOINT: We like increased production, but too automation becomes threatening, we advance in fighting bacteria & at the same time create bio-chemical warfare. The same key that open the gates of heaven open the gates of hell. The decision which gate to open is not a decision of science but a decision of man.
What motivates us to finding things out?
Necessity
* There is ample evidence to show that necessity as a responds to environmental factors is a driver for invention but utility & opportunity alone is NOT enough to explain the diversity & novelty of the various inventions
Curiosity
* It seems that is not so much man the maker Latin homo faber (man who creates things) but man the Latin homo ludens (player) which is responsible for major creative development.
Mind Seeds
* Dream products / Mind seeds spring up everywhere at the same because we share the same dream-material & dreamtime
It seems there is a direct correlation between our neophilia [3] & dopamine which create the desire for novelty.
———–
[1] power to make things = science.
[2] power to use the thing = behaviour, which is morality for the use of good or evil.
[3] obsession with everything that is new, strange, rare & novelty
